Photo Mechanic™ Version 4.5.2 History
Below is a list of changes made to Photo Mechanic for Version 4.5.2, released August 10, 2007.
This version is available as a free update for registrations good through March 2007.
- Added Upload template support using Ruby scripts. Included a template for the Digital Railroad service.
- Added an option in Ingest to download multiple disks in parallel rather than sequentially.
- (Win) Added the Structured Keywords panel and dialog to be compatible with the Mac version.
- Added a new Find Results dialog and Find preferences to the Structured Keywords dialog/panel. Hold down the shortcut key (Shift on Windows, Option on Mac) while in the Structured Keywords dialog/panel and the "Find" button will change to "Options". Clicking on the Options button will show a preference dialog that lets you control how many Find hits will cause the Find Results dialog to appear. The Find Results dialog gives you a list of all the hits that matched your Find terms.
- (Win) Added the GPS map browser.
- Added support for browsing Olympus E-410 and E-510 ORF RAW files; improved metadata support for Olympus E-1, E-300, E-330 photos (e.g. serial number, lens id).
- Added additional maker note metadata mining of Canon EOS-1D Mark III.
- (Mac) Added support for as-shot RAW rendering using ImageIO on Mac OS X 10.4.10 for the Canon EOS-1D Mark III (but not sRAW), Nikon D40X, Leica M8, Leica D-LUX 2 and D-LUX 3, Panasonic DMC-LX1 and DMC-LX2, and Fuji S5 Pro cameras.
- Added IPTC/XMP update preference for TIFF-based RAW files to not update any (existing) embedded IPTC/XMP. Normally, Photo Mechanic will at least update any embedded IPTC or XMP data in a TIFF-based RAW file regardless of the IPTC/XMP preference settings to Add embedded IPTC/XMP. This new option will force Photo Mechanic to leave alone any existing embedded IPTC/XMP in a TIFF-based RAW file so that the RAW file's TIFF table is not touched (this apparently causes problems with some other RAW processing software).
- Added {lenstype} or {lt} variable to display the type of lens used for DSLR cameras from Nikon and Canon (when available).
- Added Load Selection and Save Selection commands which load/save a text file (UTF-8) of filenames.
- Added ability to customize the non-selected thumbnail background color.
- The “.pmarrangement.dat” file for remembering arrangement order is only created when an arrangement is made, and the parent folder's modification date is kept untouched when creating or updating the arrangement file.
- (Mac) Fixed crashing issue in the Preview window when zooming-in on certain image sizes and zoom levels.
- (Mac) Fixed a crash that could occur when closing a tab in a contact sheet window.
- Added sharpening option to Send Photos via Email.
- Rotated NEF files saved by Nikon Capture now handle crops correctly.
- (Mac) Rotated NEF files saved by Nikon Capture now render in the correct orientation when using ImageIO.
- (Mac) Printing CMYK PSD files with embedded ICC profiles no longer produces strange results.
- (Win) Fixed Ruby Unicode path support in Export and Upload commands.
- FTP can now upload non-image files (items that show up with proxy icons).
- Added FTP work-around for servers that will PWD but not CD to home directory.
- Photoshop resolution info is now loaded and saved properly when units are pixels per centimeter; JPEG JFIF resolution now updated with setting resolution.
- Proxy files are now launched with the default OS handler instead of the default image editing application.
- The Structured Keywords dialog is now accessible from the Classic IPTC dialogs.
- Structured keywords siblings are now saved at the correct level.
- The File Picker dialog in the Classic IPTC dialogs now has the same options as in the new-style IPTC dialogs.
- Attached WAV files can now be played from the IPTC info with the Control-Shift-A (Win) or Command-Option-A keyboard shortcut.
- Fixed a problem where the newer IPTC/XMP fields' clear preferences would not be saved and restored.
- Byte Order Marker in code replacement text files is now accounted for.
- Save-As snapshots now save and restore the custom scale width and height values.
- (Mac) Resource forks of images are now stripped when sending photos as email to prevent apparent duplication of photos for certain email clients.
- Extracted JPEG previews from RAW photos now preserve the star rating of the original RAW photo.
- When exporting as individual files, the image name is used as the base name for the exported files (appends “.txt”).
- Fixed problem where turning on and off the viewing of unknown files as proxies would not always add them or filter them out.
- Added keyboard shortcuts for selecting all but a certain color class (Win: Ctrl-Shift F1-F9; Mac: Command-Ctrl-Shift F1-F9).
- Added synchronization of image preferences (tag, color class, rating) when using the Update IPTC/XMP tool.
- All the image preferences (tag, color class, rating) are now synchronized between RAW+JPEG images when any one of the image preferences is changed.
- The IPTC/XMP preference that lets you choose to use metadata from the RAW or the JPEG now also controls whose image preferences are used for editing.
- Added {aspect} (or {aspt}) and {aspectcrop} (or {aspc}) variables for calculating the image aspect ratio (width / height) and cropped aspect ratio (crop width / crop height).
